We have an exciting opportunity before us to elect a fantastic candidate
to U.S. Congress. Dr. William "B.J." Lawson is a Republican who is running
in the 4th District of North Carolina. Dr. Lawson has been endorsed by
Congressman Ron Paul, whose campaign for President he supported during the
Republican Primaries. Most recently Dr. Lawson was the emmcee of the Ron Paul Nation Celebration concert in Minneapolis. He is a principled defender of liberty, peace, and
Constitutional Rule of Law. He opposes the Iraq War and interventionism,
supports strong protection of our sacred Constitutionally-enshrined liberties,
and is a strong proponent of a free market economy with a sound financial system
and a government that is fiscally responsible and protects individual rights
of life, liberty, and property from violation by the powerful. His keen
intellect and his varied life experience as a physician and a successful
entrepreneur provides him with a vast understanding of the issues our country
faces today, which he articulates at a level rarely seen in politics today.

Dr. Lawson has put together an impressive and skilled campaign organization, composed of staffers ranging from former Hillary Clinton-supporting Democrats to long-time Republican activists to young college students involved in politics for the first time in their lives. He is building a base of support in the 4th District that is similarly diverse. It's not rare in the district to see people with an Obama sign and a Lawson for Congress sign in their front yards, or an Obama and Lawson bumper sticker on their cars at the same time. These voters are coming together in the district in support of Dr. Lawson's campaign out of shared realizations, which include:
- Our system of government in Washington is fundamentally broken;
- Our government is a tool for the bidding of powerful corporations and interest groups, not the servant of the people;
- Our Constitutionally-protected civil liberties are being unjustly violated and sacrificed;
- Our economic future is in serious jeopardy, given our current and declining financial situation;
- Our foreign policy of aggressive interventionism is too costly and is making us less secure.
Dr. Lawson is a fantastic candidate who will be a fantastic Congressman, and
his budding campaign gives him a strong chance to prevail in the November 4
election. However, he faces a steep challenge in opposing an 11-term incumbent,
Democrat David Price. Congressman Price has a long record of voting for aggressive
military interventions, for violating the Bill of Rights, and for doing the bidding
of powerful corporations. He is not popular with many activists in the district
among his Democratic base, and many have committed to support B.J. or are
considering doing so. But Congressman Price, being an establishment political
figure in Washington, will be well-funded by the corporations and special interest
groups he serves.
This makes raising the funds necessary to compete with this behemoth a must for Dr. Lawson's campaign. This is how we, soldiers for liberty across the country, can make a difference. With small contributions, we can give Dr. Lawson the funds he needs to win in November.
The principles enshrined in our U.S. Constitution — ratified on September 17, 1787 — are the very principles at the heart of Dr. Lawson's campaign. In honor of the year in which our nation was born and established a free society, we are asking everyone who visits this site to pledge to give an amount equal to $17.87. This may seem like very little, but across a large base of donors, this amount can make a huge difference. If everyone who has purchased tickets to attend the Rally for the Republic in Minneapolis donated this amount to Dr. Lawson's campaign, he would raise nearly $180,000 in this event.
For this fundraising event, we have a goal of raising $100,000 for Dr. Lawson's campaign. It is vital that we meet this goal for him. One year ago on November 5, thousands of people came together for a mass online donation event for Ron Paul that broke online fundraising records and sent powerful shockwaves through the political system. The news of a victory by Dr. Lawson on November 5 of this year, which this $100,000 would put him most of the way on the path to achieving, will send shockwaves just as powerful through the political system. Let's give him the support Dr. Lawson needs, and let's put "Ron Paul, Jr." in Congress!
